baseball

My neighbor told me about this bam-bam baseball league in Grimes.  It is for 3 and 4 year olds and her kids really liked it.  So I thought why not?  It was 3 weeks for 2 nights a week.  The first 3 times were practice and the last 3 were games.  The first night, Ryan was unable to go, so I had both boys.  I picked Braydon up from the babysitters and he was nervous about going to baseball.  As we are driving to practice and he said, mom I need to go home first.

I said we can't, we have to go straight to practice.

He started to cry and said no I have to go home first.

I asked him why, he said because he can't catch the ball!  I need to practice more.

This broke my heart!  I just kept reassuring him it was okay.  That's why he is going, so he can learn.

We get to practice and he was really shy.  One of the first things they dis was run the bases.  Well he wouldn't let go of my hand, so I had to run the bases with him, while holding Kellan!  He eventually warmed up to the coaches and the other players.  He did great!  He learned to run the bases in order and is getting much better at stepping and throwing the ball. The coach had Braydon give him a high five and he said, ouch that hurt.  Braydon thought that was hilarious.  So every time the coach had Braydon give him a high five, Braydon reminded him, you have to say ouch!

Kellan was thrilled to watch!

Braydon has asked multiple times if he can go to baseball since his last game.  I tell him it is over for this summer and he is bummed out.  I tell him I will play baseball with him the backyard and he says no that's okay!  In a few weeks he will start soccer. I think we will try this again next year!
