Introducing Kellan Thomas

As I am sure you all know, Kellan Thomas entered the world at 10:22am on Thursday, February 23, 2012 weighing in a 7 lbs 8.9 oz.  Although Ryan was hoping for a March baby and I thought a leap year baby would be fun...we were so excited to have him here.  Needless to say we were not quite prepared, but we are all doing great!

If you are interested, here is the long version:  We went to the hospital Wednesday night because I was having contractions and was dilated to a 4, but after 2 hours, they sent us home.  I thought this wasn't the best idea, but I didn't really have a lot of say.  I ended up staying up all night with contractions and then "lounging" on the couch all day Thursday.  They stayed about 10 minutes apart, but kept getting more intense.  I called the doctors office around 3pm to tell them they were pretty intense, but they said to just wait until they were 5 minutes apart.

Braydon spent Wednesday night in Perry and all day Thursday with Grandpa Lumpy.   So around 5pm, Ryan decided he would meet up with my parents and get Braydon because the contractions were not getting any closer.  After Ryan left, they became about 8 minutes apart for about 30 minutes.  Then all of a sudden they were 3 to 5 minutes apart.  Luckily Ryan was just pulling in the driveway.  I called Aunt Dani to come babysit and we were off to the hospital 15 minutes later.  I got to give Braydon a hug and a kiss and we were off.  On the way to the hospital they were around 2 minutes apart.  I was getting worried I wouldn't have time to get the epidural and I was not looking forward to not having that.  We got checked in and were in the room around 7:30pm.  She checked me and I was dilated to a 7 - I said, please hurry with the epidural.  8:30pm I was able to get the epidural and Ryan and I happily watched Iowa beat Wisconsin!

Right after the basketball game got over the doctor came in and said it was time.  The nurse admitted to us that he was waiting for the Iowa game to get over.  We both appreciated that!  I pushed for about 10 minutes and Kellan made his arrival!

He looked great and just cried a little bit.  He looked just like Braydon.

Since mother nature decided that the 2nd snow storm of the year should happen this night, we didn't have any visitors that first night.  Of course his grandparents showed up first thing Friday morning.  To make things more complicated, we were having carpet delivered Friday morning at 7am, so Ryan ran home to take care of that.

Braydon showed up and got to meet his "brudder".  We were all anxious to see how he would react, he was so cute.  He wanted to hold him right away.  So we let him and he thought it was pretty cool, he also gave him kisses.  Very sweet.

We spent all day Friday at the hospital and then Ryan went home to clean house for the 3 house showings we had on Saturday.  So Kellan and I stayed at the hospital Saturday until Ryan and Braydon could get there to pick us up.  We got home around 2pm on Saturday and we are getting along great!

Kellan just eats, sleeps and poops!  He is finally starting to wake up a little bit. On Tuesday Braydon just wanted to kiss him all day.  This morning when Braydon woke up he asked me, where dad go?  which he asks every morning.  I told him dad was still in bed, then he asked me, where brudder?  It was pretty cute he was worried about him.

So far things are going great and we are very happy with the newest addition!
