Oz - toberfest in Kansas

So I had a crazy idea that I just had to see Tyson play in one of his flag football games. So I convinced Braydon and Lumpy to join me. We left Des Moines Friday, 10/1 after work. We got to Manhattan around 11pm and of course the boys were already in bed. We got up early Saturday morning to go watch Tyson compete in a 1/4 mile race. He did awesome! With Simon in his pocket, they made great time 2 minutes and 30 seconds!

Then we headed to the pumpkin patch! Braydon's first trip. first thing was the little petty zoo. Braydon got to touch goats and pigs.

Then Tyson was pretty excited to go on the hay ride, so we loaded up on the trailer.

It took us out to a corn maze and dropped us off. We headed through the maze being led by the 6'6 guy who could see over the corn! Once we got through we were in the pumpkin patch. We each got to pick out our own pumpkin.

Braydon was so exhausted he fell asleep on my shoulder and didn't wake up until we put him in the car!

Saturday afternoon, Kristen and I headed to the mall to get pedicures and left Lumpy and Joel in charge of all the kids. Kristen and I were thankful that they were all accounted for when we got home, Braydon refused to take a nap and only fell off the train table once. We were all dressed in our hawkeye gear and watched the hawks dominate the nittany lions! Charlie and Braydon practiced some blocking and tackling!

Sunday morning we just relaxed. We went for a walk and just hung out. Joel decided we should all head to Wamego, a small town about 10 minutes away, because they were having Oztoberfest. So he got us all tickets to the Wizard of Oz play. When we got there they had the cutouts that you stick your face in and Tyson and Charlie thought they were SOOOO much fun.

Then we saw the play. A few of the orginial munchins from the movie were there - a little older, but it was kind of exciting to see them. Tyson loved the play, Charlie and Braydon enjoyed it too. It was really good. Plus we got to have the boys all dressed up!

Monday morning, Tyson and Charlie headed off to speech and then Tyson was off to school. Lumpy and I met Tyson for school lunch - mmm school lunch! No wonder Tyson is so skinny!

Monday night we got to watch Tyson play football. Braydon wanted to run on the field the entire time! Tyson even got to run with the ball once, too bad he went the wrong way(I will try to post the video soon! It was really cute and well worth the drive.

Tyson is next to the ball with his hands on his knees ready to go tackle!

Lumpy, Braydon and I headed home Monday night and got to Des Moines around 1:30am. Thanks Grandpa lumpy for taking the late shift driving home!

it was a great visit and we had so much fun.
