July update continue! Chicago

After the 4th of July weekend, it was time to head to Chicago! Dani was working as a nanny there this summer, so it gave us a great excuse to take another road trip! We took off on Friday morning and of course hit an unbelievable amount of traffic trying to get into town.  The Cubs were playing at 1pm that day and there was no way we could make the 1st pitch.  The Kansas Lundstroms were in Chicago for that week and were headed to the game.  We told them we were probably not going to make it though.

Little did we know, there was a 4 hour rain delay and we made it just in time!  We parked and walked to the stadium to just look around, found a friendly gentleman selling tickets on the street.  We got tickets cheap and were excited to head in.  2 of our tickets had already been used that day, but he still let us in anyway.  One thing I learned is that Wrigley field is extremely kid friendly.  We were able to check the stroller and they even had an air conditioned room for me to nurse Kellan!!

We got a few pictures outside the stadium before the game.

Once we got inside, we saw Joel right away.  They had sat through the ENTIRE rain delay.  Lucky for us, there were a few seats available by them to join them.

Tyson LOVES baseball!

Braydon LOVES angry birds!

Charlie LOVES Kellan (Kellan is not so sure)!

Finally Braydon watched a little bit of the game.

Of course popcorn makes it easier to pay attention to the game.

Kellan LOVES sleeping!

The Cubs won!  We even got certificates with the boys' names on them that say "My first visit to Wrigley Field".  It was pretty fun.  After the game, we went to my cousin Teresa's place for some Chicago style pizza and it did not disappoint.  Thanks for the hospitality Teresa for your surprise visitors!

The next morning we slept in a little bit and then we were headed to the beach on Lake Michigan.
We are never sure how Braydon is going to be around water, but he loved it!  It was a little cold, but he thought it was really fun.  We still talks about the waves knocking him over.  We were looking at these pictures last night when I was working on the blog and he asked "Can we go there again?"

Putting his feet in ...not too impressed!
After the beach we headed to the Children's museum.  Braydon had a blast.  He got to go shopping, play with trains, play with water, musical instruments...lots to do!

"buying" groceries at the Children's Museum.

That night we went out to dinner and then headed over to the house were Dani was working.  Did I fail to mention that it was a really nice house, just a block from Lake Michigan and they have their own pool!  So Ryan, Braydon and Dani did a little night swimming.  They had a lot of fun and I think Braydon wants a pool at his house now too!!

We wanted to do something touristy, so Sunday morning we headed to Navy Pier.  Now of us had ever been there.  So of course we rode the Ferris Wheel.

Braydon tried out the carousel.

And of course there were was a good photo opportunity!

We had a great trip!  Aunt D thanks for showing us a great time!
