Trip to California

Tuesday, June 8: Grandpa and Grandma L show up at 6am to head to the airport. Braydon was all dress in his "don't bother me, I'm on vacation shirt". We head to the airport with 4 adults one baby - 8 bags, 1 stroller and a car seat later, we are there. Of course our first flight is delayed (mechanical problems - I was pretty upset they said this because when traveling with someone who has a fear of flying - Ryan - I didn't want him to hear there were mechanical issues). Well we get on the plane and everyone does great, Braydon was a little squirmy, but he did great. Well we ran to the next plane in Denver and luckily it was delayed, so we didn't miss it. We get all loaded up in this plane and they decide we need to sit on the run way for 1 hour. Just what a 9month old wants to do. Well this time we had a window seat and he did great. He loved looking out the window!

We land in San Francisco, get the mercury grand marquis and load the family up. We get to our hotel(thanks for the help with this Andy) and go grab some dinner, ride a cable car,



go to fisherman's wharf, ride the cable car again and we are all cold and ready for sleep!

Wednesday: June 9:
we load up in the car and drive up the backside of Lombard St. and then down the other side. I was a little freaked out driving up it that we would start to roll backwards. We drove through Golden Gate State Park and went to the Golden Gate bridge. I always wanted a picture in front of it and I was really disappointed when it was so fogging, you couldn't even see the bridge (not even when we were driving over it.

so we went to Muir Woods to see the Redwoods. We went on about a 3 mile hike through the woods, they were really tall and big. Grandma L kept hiding inside them. Certain parts of the hike were "quiet zones" Grandpa L didn't really care for those rules! If you look really closely, you can see us in this picture.

Once we were done there, the fog lifted, so we drove back to the bridge and I got my picture I wanted!

Next was the drive to Tahoe. We took highway 50 through the mountains. It was really windy and pretty. We got to South Lake Tahoe and got settled in and were so excited to see everyone.

Thursday, June 10: We went on a hike with about 15 of us. We got Braydon backpack all ready and after driving 25 minutes to the hike, we realized we left it on the kitchen table. So we decided to carry him. The hike was awesome! We hiked next to Eagle Falls and took it all the way up to Eagle Lake (which was a little hidden lake). Braydon did pretty good with Ryan carrying him most of the way.

That night we just hung out and relaxed.

Friday, June 11: Wedding day. We spend most of the morning getting ready for Krista and Jeff's wedding. Krista looked great - Jeff didn't look too bad himself. That day decided to be cold and windy!! It was very pretty and was a great success. We went back to the house for the reception and some flippy cups!

Saturday, June 12: We decided another hike was in order. So this time we went on an "easy" trail - Grandpa, Grandma, Jess, Fran, Kate, Amber, Mary, Ryan, Braydon and myself. We remembered the backpack for Braydon this time - a lot easier! We hiked back to another lake - Fallen Leaf lake. Then we went back to town and rode to the top of the Gondola. It was really windy at the top, but gorgeous.

Sunday, June 13: We packed up and went for a drive around the lake. We hiked down the falls to Emerald Bay. Very pretty hike and well worth the view and the beach at the bottom. Braydon was so exhausted that he slept the entire way up the mountain.

We continued our drive around the lake and ended up staying in South Lake Tahoe again. We got a place with a pool, so Braydon could try swimming for the first time - he hated it, I think the water was too cold. we will have to try again! Grandpa and Grandma Lundstrom watched Braydon so we could go give some money to the casino that night!

Monday, June 14: Got on the road for Sacramento for our flight back. We landed in Des Moines at 11pm!

It was a great trip - thanks Krista for getting married it such a fun place! Thanks Grandpa and Grandma L for helping with Braydon and Grandma Murf for watching our other kid, Wrigley!
